Abstract

In order to evaluate the difference in effect of occlusal sealing between auto-polymerized and light-polymerized sealants, the author analyzed the 213 sealants, after 12 months, placed on pits and fissures in carious questionable teeth from 69 children of 12-year-old.

The obtained results were as follows
1. There was not statically significant difference in complete retention rates between 59.30% in cases of auto-polymerized and 61.42% in cases of light-polymerized sealants.
2. There was statically significant difference in complete retention rates between 51.19% in maxillary and 66.67% in mandibular sealants. But there was not statically significant difference in complete retention rates in maxilla between 50.0% in cases of auto-polymerized and 51.9% in cases of light-polymerized sealants, also in mandible between 64.8% in cases of auto-polymerized and 68.0% in cases of light-polymerized sealants.
3. The dental¢¥carious preventive effctiveness of sealants was totally, 70.05%. But there was statically significant difference in effectiveness of sealants between 79.77% in cases of auto-polymerized and 63.46% in cases of light-polymerized sealants.
4. There was statically significant difference in DMFS indices between 0.06:L-0.25 in experimental group and 0.16¢¥2E0.43 in control. But there was not statically significant difference in DMFS indices between auto-polymerized,.; and light-polymerized sealants.
